Over the weekend someone on Digg posted the 2008 web design trends. The site that was providing these nifty trends is called Web Designers Wall. It’s a blog site that provides the obvious trends in the industry, design ideas, and tutorials. It’s a very nice looking site that breaks away from the typical look of the blog, something that we like to do here at Frye / Wiles as well. So I guess you really want to know the design trends of 2008. There are many on the site, but here are just a few.

Resource for current design trends and most importantly free downloads of back issues of DesignFlip Magazine. (more…)
The problem with some design magazines is they can get a little stagnant at times. One month I’m in Barnes and Noble trying to decide which magazine I can live without (because it’s either 5 magazines or filling up my gas tank). Then the next month I’m disappointed when most covers look the same. One company decides swooshes and “urban street art” are the cool thing to copy, and suddenly you’re stuck with those for the next six months to a year. (more…)
Today I would like to showcase a site called PSDTUTS. It’s a good site for tutorials, articles, and inspiration for photoshop designs in use for print or web. If you want to create an effect that mimics the new Coldplay Apple ad, then look no further.
Talk to you next week.
I came to the conclusion that I wish I had a provider that would send me an arsenal of websites, providing me with information and resources that would be helpful in my day to day activities. Well, I am going to try to be that provider for you each week. The first website that I think would be useful is a site called WebAppers.
It’s a blog created by a freelance web developer named Ray Cheung. The blog has users submitting everything from fonts, open source applications, news articles, tutorials, to cool illustrated icons. So check it out and I hope it helps.
Interior Design machinations cleverly devised in an attempt to make me question my own personal workspace and take a little trip to the neighborhood Ikea. Hold the meatballs–I’m getting a Torim, a Malnig, and a BESTÅ shelf. (more…)
Not to steal Dani’s thunder, which is an impossible task by the way, I rounded up some sites that I visit when I need some design inspiration. Most of these sites are a good way to see how other people creatively layout design using CSS.
The first good site to go to is CSS Zen Garden. You can view the many different designs of what people are doing using CSS. This site is intended for designers to participate and submit their own CSS creations using Zen Garden’s original HTML markup and CSS style sheet for you to download. If Zen Garden likes your work, they will then showcase your wonderful design to the masses.

Mimobots are my pocket-sized guilty pleasure. Now why would anyone pay upwards of $90 for a 4GB usb when you could get one elsewhere for under $14? Well sir it’s because a Mimobot is more than just a thumb drive. It’s an accessory, a statement, and more importantly: your new best friend. If it’s shaped like a cool toy and stores all my goods, then toss it in my cart–I’ll take two. They even have an 8GB Darth Vader mimobot back in at-long-last today. (more…)
