Previously I’ve mentioned a few sites for inspirational 3D galleries, forums, and all manner of CG connections such as CGSociety and 3D World. However, when it comes to getting yourself in the design chair and actually modeling, animating, or rendering your ideas it’s really not as difficult to get started as you might suspect. Here’s a list of sites I refer to when a 3D Bible and my tired brain just won’t cut the polygonal mustard:
By far one of my favorite training sites. I’ve used this one not only for 3D but for Soundtrack Pro, ProTools, and After Effects projects. You can start off with the beginner videos or jump into the more advanced. It’s definitely one of the most organized tutorial sites out there.
Granted some tutorial sites need a little direction in the “how to let your viewer know where the hell to click” department when there are so many ads and blurbs on a page, but they’re ultimately useful…kinda. Another perhaps obvious or perhaps not-so-obvious resource can be YouTube especially if you can get your hands on seminar, workshop, or class tutorials.
