Since Firefox 3 just came out it’s probably a good time to do a recap on some web developer Add-ons that are useful for FF3.

So let’s get the ball moving

One of the most important and widley used Add-on is Firebug. It’s world renown and a must have for today’s web developer. What this Add-on does is make your life easier. OK, you probably want more info than that.  It shows you the HTML mark up on one side and on the other side it shows you all the CSS that is attributing to that mark up. It does more like the inspect feature where you can pick specific parts of your code and find out what is doing what. This is the tool to have. I just keep on asking myself what did we do before Firebug. It was like the Dark Ages or something.  Well, I guess this is the Golden Age, because Firebug 1.2 has been released for FF3.

The next one is another helpful add-on and it’s the Web Developer Toolbar. It has everything for finding out all the sizes of block elements on a page, disabling CSS feature, displaying rulers, window resizer, to tools that validate CSS. This is a very robust Add-on and another weapon to have in your arsenal.

Cache Status and Management is a neat Add-on to have and they already got it working with FF3. Of course someybody had to hack the original one that worked for FF2 to work with FF3, but hey it works. This is useful when constantly making updates to your site and you want to see the latest changes that you’ve made. This is especially useful if you have some flash on your site. If you made changes to your flash file and you don’t see the changes on your site it’s because the cache has a tendecy to store for awhile in Firefox. Just use the simple Clear all Cache function and then all is well.
