So I’ve been hesitating towards this whole Blog thing because I didn’t know what to blog about. Nate mentioned I can blog about anything so I said to myself what do I like to do most. I like to listen to music. Especially the music I grew up with. It all started when I was 12 or 13 circa 1987, and yes I am an old man, but let me tell you I sure don’t act like it. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing yet. Anyhow…I remember stumbling upon my sister’s tape of New Order’s Brotherhood. I believe this was the catalyst that started the whole damn thing. From then on it was all about New Order. My first CD I bought myself was Technique and this is when CD’s came in the long cardboard cases of yesteryear. They make awesome art work for collages by the way. From then on it went from New Order to Joy Division to Depeche Mode to Stone Roses to Jesus and Mary Chain to any Brit Rock , Indie, Madchester Band, and especially Shoegazing. Shoegazing, Dream Pop or whatever the media wants to label it, I fell into that abyss and really never want to climb my way out of it. With bands like My Bloody Valentine, Ride, Slowdive who really wants to. Good Times… So I guess we all have to grow up, but wait… not yet, because then there came Techno, Trance, Drum and Bass, Break Beats, ok lets just call it Electronica. 1994-1995 Chemical Brothers releases Exit Planet Dust. It was like I was 13 again listening to something new and what a year that was. All I have to say is Organic Festival. With Bands like Chemical Brothers, Underworld, Meat Beat Manifesto, Orbital, and the Orb…what a night. A couple of years went by and Drum and Bass became more popular. MixMag’s LTJ Bukem is such a classic CD. Okay, I guess it’s time for me to get back to work. The Bands came and gone and some are still here, but with different names like Mojave 3, which is one of my favs. I think that’s the band that Nate refers on the website that could bring a yapping Chihuahua to sleep. So hopefully this is not my only Blog Post Thing. I have my music on the iTunes Playlist which takes me back to when I was young and my friends and I would drive all the way to Tower on Sunset or Aarons record shop on Highland listening to some real good music.

You forgot to tell everyone about your favorite: Shakira! Shakira!
I think that is your favorite Justin. You do have all of her CD’s in both Spanish and English.
Well, my music tastes are completely different, but much like yourself, the early music that I grew up with (punk bands mostly) will always have a special place in my soul…and my iTunes.
Am I the only one that looks back at his early music collection and shudders? Weird Al is just so lame.
Actually, it’s Led all the way. Who can get enough of the Immigrant Song, South Bound Suarez, or, most importantly, Houses of the Holy? Not I, not I.
My first CD was, sadly and with much embarrassment, Ace of Base’s, “The Sign.” I blame my brother. Meh.

Good lord, no wonder you’re taste in music is wretched. Luckily when I was real young, I was introduced to some Van Halen, Queensryche, and my favorite tape (yes, tape not CD) back in the days…Firehouse.
That’s the stuff right there.
