We recently had the opportunity to redesign the website for The Norris Group, one of our long-time clients and a friend of Frye / Wiles (we also donate the design for their yearly breast cancer benefit called I Survived Real Estate). Their old site had grown a little unwieldy over the years, and so for the redesign we migrated it into a content management system, updated the look of the site and got the whole thing more in line with current development practices.

Hi Everyone,
Just a quick note, we’re transitioning our phones over to a new system. If for some reason you get sent directly to voicemail, please leave a message and we’ll call you right back! (we get email notifications of voicemails). Sorry about the inconvienence, this should be taken care of in a day or so.

UPDATE 9/3: The new system is in place and working now!
Also goes under the name “Annual Filings Division”
I just received a curious piece of mail from the ‘Business Filings Division’ regarding the Statement of Information filing for my Limited Liability Company. The ‘Business Filings Division’ is asking, or threatening in this case, for a $239 remit payment that is due immediately to file my Statement of Information…the Statement of Information that I filed over a month ago. Turns out, not surprisingly, that this letter is a complete scam as business statement filings are $20-$25 at the most. But it looks real legit on the surface; this notice has a government looking seal at the top left compete with what looks to be an eagle diving into the American flag, it has a control number and a CA LLC number with many digits after each one, a downtown Sacramento street address where most California business mail goes, a host of crazy corporation tax codes listed - it’s frickin’ brilliant.

Just wrapped up a really classy site for our friends over at Bello Salon (the best salon in Riverside!).
For this project, we really wanted to project a feeling of high-end sophistication and quality, to go along with the services the Bello offers. Another goal was to try and build a an community around the salon, for which we integrated not only a blog, but got them started using various social media to connect with their customers in whichever way works best for them.

Just about everyone familiar with Riverside knows the Canyon Crest Towne Centre - it’s a shopping institution, and a favorite destination for great food and weekend entertainment. We were recentely hired to redesign and redevelop the Towne Centre website (using content management, of course!). With this project, we really wanted to capture the unique aesthetic of the centre in their web design. The project also required an easily updatable Directory, and a Calendar of Events, all of which we were able to deliver.

We had the privledge recently of working with Marc Posch of Marc Posch Design on the new website for Jacobus Consulting. Jacobus is a player in the super-hot Healthcare IT sector, and it was time for their website to match the quality of services they provide. The site is completely content managed, so they are able to go in and make changes whenver and where they deem appropriate.

Another content-managed website to announce, this time for Riverside Construction Company. Frustrated with their previous web design experience, Riverside Construction came to us looking for a solution that would allow them to manage their own site without a lot of back-and-forth. Using a robust CMS platform, we were able to address their needs and get them up and running in very little time. Check out Riverside Construction Company today!

Another project from our backlog of updates, the City of Riverside recently hired us to do an interactive scaling, zooming, information-poping-up road construction map in Flash. This map is completely XML controlled, so they can update it on a moment’s notice (essential functionality for a City construction map). We don’t get the chance to do projects like this much anymore (flash applications are now in more limited demand in our sector compared with the past), but we love working with Flash when we get a chance and it’s appropriate for the project. Anyway, check out the map at the new City of Riverside Public Works site (click on Construction Projects in the sidebar):

Once again, I apologize for our limited blogging recently. Seems the web world is actually a pretty busy place these days!
Anyway, very briefly, we recently launched an interesting content-managed site for an interesting company, RORE Inc. Rore is an Environmental Engineering and Constructon company based out of San Diego. Like many construction and engineering-type companies, the challenge lies in making what they do understandable and interesting for a web user. Fortunatly for us, RORE is a lot more creative and innovative than a lot of their competition, so the web project turned out to be one of those good collaborative experiences that we love.

Over the past couple weeks, we’ve been working with our friends over at Privacywear to help reskin their website. The biggest new feature is a very dynamic new front page that pulls in some of the various different social media they are involved with. Overall, the new look is bigger and more modern and in general very sexy. Check out the new site here
