Long Tail Keywords
Chasing the Head keywords in your vertical is a great goal. However, clients want to see traffic and fast. I’ve found a great way to do that is to chase the long tail. A favorite strategy of mine is to use FAQ pages to add quality pages to your site for the long tail.

Key to Long Tail SEO

A key to the long tail is having as many pages as possible that combine your main keywords with other words that are likely to be found in a query. Lets use widgets as an example. It may be difficult to get “widgets” as a keyword your ranking numbers one on. So make a “Frequently Asked Widget Questions” page.

This can include questions like.

  • How much does a widget cost?
  • My favorite widget broke, is it covered under warranty?
  • Will this widget put my family at danger?
  • How often do you carry widget models?
Each of these questions then gets a page with that question and answer on the page as the main focus. If you want to cross link questions feel free, that is up to you. I should note that you want your answers to be at least a couple paragraphs in length if possible. This is because if your pages are too small they won’t carry the same weight.

Questions for Long Tail SEO?

Why use questions? That’s coming in a later blog, but there is a technique of long tail called Jeopardy SEO.
Using these FAQ pages is a quick way to develop content and page numbers that will be both useful to your user as well as useful for your SEO. A perfect intersection of interests.
